       \n    ]\n}\n<\/script>\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"intro\">Following up on the 2022 campus-wide strategic planning process, <a href=\"https:\/\/strategicplan.ucsc.edu\/\">Leading the Change<\/a>, UCSC\u2019s Sustainability Office embarked on a rewriting of the campus\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainabilityplan.ucsc.edu\/\">Sustainability and Climate Action Plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plan engaged faculty, staff and students across the campus community and was released in summer 2023. The plan\u2019s goals focus on building communities of care in the face of climate change, decarbonization, stewarding the water and land, and advancing a circular economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-style-read-more is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Read More about Sustainability at UC Santa Cruz<\/summary>\n<p>In summer 2023, the campus published its <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainability.ucsc.edu\/initiatives\/decarb-electrific.html\">Decarbonization &amp; Electrification (D&amp;E) Predesign Report<\/a> outlining the technological options to reduce fossil fuel use by 95%. After the completion of the report, the campus formed a subcommittee to apply a just transition and equity lens to the technical study recommendations. The analysis is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainability.ucsc.edu\/initiatives\/social-justice-inclusion.html\">Just Transition and Equity website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UCSC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainability.ucsc.edu\/engage\/green-certified\/green-labs\/index.html\">Green Labs<\/a> team had a busy year recertifying 11 labs, certifying eight others and providing financial incentives for freezers, fridges and other sustainable lab equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UCSC rolled out its first <a href=\"https:\/\/news.ucsc.edu\/2023\/05\/campus-bikeshare.html\">bike sharing program<\/a> with approximately 400 BCycle e-Bikes and 800 docks available throughout the City of Santa Cruz and UCSC. There are currently more than 25 docking stations across campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sustainability Office continues its community climate equity work through <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/facilitatingpower.com\/capeca\/home\">Community-Academic Partnerships to Advance Equity-Focused Climate Action<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/facilitatingpower.com\/capeca\/home\">CAPECA<\/a>).
