reduction and diversion efforts.<\/a> UCLA Health implemented a launderable patient glide sheet as part of a multidisciplinary team effort, which will reduce waste by thousands of pounds annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UCLA Health observed an increase and expansion in categories of reprocessed devices collected and continued to collect and divert blue wrap for recycling. A process was implemented to divert medical equipment and furniture at the end of its life from landfill for collection and consignment, which yielded 10,000 pounds of donated items in fiscal year 2024. UCLA Health\u2019s recycling streams increased by 600,000 pounds, from 24.8% to 28.4% of its total waste profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-style-read-more is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Read More about Sustainability at UCLA Health<\/summary>\n<p>The Food Services &amp; Nutrition team launched a plant-forward salad bar at both Ronald Reagan and Santa Monica medical centers. The team continues to innovate in its procurement practices, achieving a 27% sustainable and\/or local food spend.UCLA Health continued to develop an equity-centered Climate Resiliency Plan, established a formal structure for operational and clinical resiliency, and provided updates in the formal <a href=\"https:\/\/ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu\/employee-news\/uc-health-launches-climate-pledge-progress-report\/\">UC Health Climate Pledge Progress Report<\/a>.
